We tested Lensa AI’s magic avatars

lensa AI

Lensa AI is an application developed by Prisma Labs that uses artificial intelligence to create portraits of people and pets from selfies taken from mobile phones.

The application is very simple and easy to use, you only need to select between 10 and 20 photos and in less than 20 minutes it is capable of creating 100 magical images or avatars. And it is that although it is artificial intelligence, it truly seems like magic. The app offers a range of filters, manual facial adjustments, and more conventional photo adjustments, as well as Magic Avatars, which is a separate feature that can generate a unique avatar among different styles, from futuristic to Viking themed.

We have seen these portraits have gone viral on social media, but are the results as good as the photos we see published?

In general, the answer is yes, and a lot. However, the application itself warns that some portraits may contain defects beyond its control. Our experience is that the most common mistakes are hands and eyes related.

It is worth mentioning that the results are better if you meet all the requirements that the application sets when selecting the photos for the AI to use. The generated portraits can be used in a variety of situations thanks to the different styles, from home decoration to creating social media profiles. You can even find some signed images, proof that the images used by the training model also contains signed frames.

In addition to being a fun and easy way to create art, the app also has the potential to revolutionize the illustration industry. Artists and designers can use the generated portrait as a base to create a completely new piece of art, or even use it in advertising and commercial projects.

And how does it work for pets?

We have tested it with Dante, a French shorthaired pointer puppy, and the results have surprised us.

If you’re concerned about privacy, Lensa promises to delete uploaded photos once it finishes generating the avatars.

Without a doubt, this technology is a step forward in the evolution of artificial intelligence and its ability to help us create and share art more effectively. And, have you created your magical avatars yet?
